Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA)
Also known as RDA
The average daily intake of a nutrient considered enough to meet the needs of most healthy people.
The RDA is a population-level target set by health authorities to prevent deficiency in the majority of people. It is a baseline for adequacy, not necessarily the dose studied for a specific therapeutic effect.
Some supplements are studied at doses above the RDA for particular goals. That does not mean more is always better, and it should be balanced against the upper intake level.
